Duty to God
In its Charter and Bylaws, the BSA maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God or their religious faith. No matter what the religious faith of a member might be, this fundamental need of good citizenship must be kept before the member.

Religious Emblem Program
To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed the following religious emblem programs. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. The various religious groups administer the programs.
